PVEC Member Voices Code of Conduct

This code of conduct is intended to be used as self-administered guidance for conduct.  If a member acts in a manner that is contrary to this guidance the written principles provide a basis for other members to speak up privately or publicly. The desired outcome would be for member-owners to modify behavior in line with the guidance or choose to leave the organization.  If a member wonders if their conduct may be out of line with the code it’s a signal to modify behavior and/or ask for feedback on the matter before it becomes an issue.

  1. The value of the group is that it collectively represents a number of people, rather than so many individuals.  It is essential that the group members work together as a group and act as a group.
  2. Diversity of experiences and viewpoints is a strength.  Make a personal commitment to be nonjudgmental about cultural differences, living conditions and the life-style of each person.
  3. Treat all members with a sense of dignity, respect and worth. It is essential that the group has trust among its members.
  4. Be courteous and polite in your actions. Avoid profane and abusive language, and disruptive behavior.  Personal attacks are not appropriate. This applies when dealing with other members of PVEC Member Voices as well as PVEC board members, management and staff.
  5. Accept the consensus purpose and goals of the group, including plans to achieve those goals.
  6. Accept assignments consistent with your interest, abilities and available time. Be dependable, recognizing the commitment and responsibility to the group.
  7. Seek consensus.  Be patient.  React with grace if your ideas are not chosen for action.
  8. Be a team player.  Avoid actions as an individual that endanger the success of the group.
  9. Avoid conflicts of interest–including economic and personal interests–and refrain from actions that may be perceived as such. Reveal any potential or actual conflicts of interest as they arise.
  10. Celebrate the successes of the group.
